Islamabad:

Federal Minister of Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry has announced a significant 50% decrease in Port Ports in the port of Karachi, with the aim of reducing the carbon footprint of commercial logging and promoting sustainable development.

In a statement on Saturday, the minister announced the initiative as part of a wider strategy to degrade the maritime sector and improving energy efficiency in port businesses. “By reducing operating costs and rationalizing logistics, we are not only enhanced by competitiveness of commerce but also contributing to climate durability,” he said.

Recently imported reforms include a 50% reduction in port handling, boat and storage fees, and during the dissolution of the previously scheduled 5% annual increase in charges, a move that is expected to benefit the exporters of dry goods and reduce emissions.

“This is not just an economic measure. It is a pillar of low -impact maritime trade, ready for the future,” the minister said. “A more effective port reduces the time of inactivity for boats. It reduces fuel consumption and supports greener supply chains.”

He stressed that these changes were part of the national strategy for modernizing port infrastructure, enhancing viability and transition to smart maritime practices.

This announcement follows recent efforts to enhance the port’s efficiency, including the formation of a high -level committee to reduce 70% of containers and develop advanced technologies such as AI and aircraft for surveillance work, which underlines

The minister has confirmed the commitment to align the marine sector with global environmental standards and stated that “a durable economy is in line with environmental responsibility.

As sea levels grow, extreme weather events occur and marine pollution is exacerbated, climate adjustment is increasingly integrated into commercial supply in an effort to make the country a viable shipping hub, he said.
