LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari called on Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain at their residence in Gulberg, Lahore.
Moonis Elahi greeted Bilawal Bhutto while PML-Q leader Tariq Basheer Cheema and other MNAs welcomed Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Sources claim that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari enquired about Chaudhry Shujaat’s health although the recent Senate upset victory was also discussed.
Commenting on the development, Mohtarma Reham Khan said: “Apolitical comment: Huge admiration for Ch Shujaat Sb for how he has battled with the debilitating condition #Parkinsons May he stay fighting.”
There is a lot of speculation on the nature of this meeting since rumours are escalating that after Yousaf Raza Gilani’s victory in the Islamabad Senate Elections, the PDM might look to appoint their own Chief Minister in Punjab.
This is possible if the PML-Q led by the Chaudhrys and 4 independent MPAs decide to align with the PDM, however, sources claim that the PML-Q has decided to stay with the PTI for the time being as such a political betrayal at this time does not reflect the personality of the Chaudhry family.
Raja Basharat has emerged as the frontrunner in the race since he is considered to be acceptable to both the PTI and the PML-Q, breaking the current deadlock.
Earlier, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had also met Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader, Mian Hamza Shehbaz Sharif and Mohtarma Maryam Nawaz at their residence in Model Town.
