Babar Azam accused of sexual coercion, false marriage promises

(By Aijaz Hussain)

Babar Azam, who was recently appointed as captain of the Pakistan National Cricket team for all formats, finds himself under the spotlight again, but this time for all the bad reasons. A woman named Mukhtar has accused the star batsman of sexually coercing her and giving her false marriage assurances.

“I have relations with Babar Azam before he had anything to do with cricket and was from a poor family,” Mukhtar said.

In response to the humiliating scandal, Babar Azam made a cryptic tweet.

“One thing at a time,” the Pakistan team captain said whilst posting a selfie.

The recent developments have showcased that the Lahore High court has called out Babar Azam and his family to not harass the woman who has been alleging sexual misconduct on part of him. It has been stated that the Additional Sessions Judge had heard Mukhtar’s petition, after which the sessions court asked the police to intervene in this matter.

Mukhtar claims to have been in a premarital relationship with the cricketer which resulted in her getting pregnant, further saying that she was forced by Babar Azam to undergo abortion on the grounds that he would marry her once his career flourishes. She has also extended her medical documents as evidence to her testify this claim.

Apart from this, she has also mentioned that Babar Azam had her withdraw the FIR she made at the Naseerabad Police station after he again succeeded in convincing her that they would tie the knot in the near future.

While Babar Azam’s statement on this matter has still not been received since he is in New Zealand for a white and red ball series, the PCB has openly responded that they wouldn’t be giving their insight on this affair since it concerns the private life of the cricketer.
