Women, children demanding rights for Gwadar
A protest has been raging since mid-November in the western coastal city of Gwadar in the Pakistani province of Baluchistan. The protests, led by the Secretary General of Jamaat-i-Islami Balochistan Chapter, Maulana Hidayatur Rehman Baloch, have been set up to raise voice against – among other things – the ongoing severe shortage of electricity and water, dearth of health and education services, excessive checkpoints across the city, and the rise in illegal fishing which is threatening the livelihood of many locals.
