Continuous Persistence of Security Threats against Chinese Nationals & CPEC in Pakistan
The security situation has been deteriorating in Pakistan, especially since 2021, coinciding with the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul. The major actors of instability and terrorist violence have been the TTP and its affiliated groups. And secondly, the Baloch insurgent groups in Balochistan. Not only in Balochistan, but they have also been carrying out attacks against Chinese interests across the country. CPEC, which is a lifeline for the Pakistani economy and Pak-China friendship and regional connectivity, is facing persistent terrorist threats. So, the threat to CPEC is not uniform across the country but varies from region to region. There is insecurity
