A particular video of singer Asim Azhar recently went viral on social media when he was apparently trolled during a performance at a prominent university.
Azhar faced riots at a literary festival held at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in Sukkhar. The incident unfolded as Azhar was engaging in a conversation with host Yasir Hussain and was met with some nasty comments about his personal life. Some members of the audience started taunting the singer, shouting his name Galat Fehmi’His ex-girlfriend Hania Aamir. Azhar and the famous star have been romantically linked in the past.
In a moment captured in a viral video, Azhar silenced the misogynistic voices with a reply. “IBA hai ya pagal khaana?” (Is this IBA or an insane asylum?),” the singer replied. Hussain, standing by Azhar, also reprimanded the devotees, urging them to behave as educated persons.
The story between Azhar and Aamir is one that captured the imagination of the audience. While their rumored relationship was the talk of the town at the time, Aamir later cleared all speculations during an Instagram Live chat with singer Aima Baig. The revelation left their fans heartbroken, having strongly supported the union of the two talented artists.
Despite this, both Aamir and Azhar moved on with their lives. Azhar found happiness in his engagement to rising star Merub Ali and Amir took a more cautious approach to her public presence.
It is worth noting that this was not the first time Azhar faced such taunts from fans. Earlier, while performing at an educational institution, he had responded to similar chants by humorously saying, “Ex ka naam lein gai to boys ko maza nahi ayega (If you mention the ex’s name, it won’t be fun for the boys).”
