COVID-19 infections increase abruptly in parts of Asia, with Hong Kong and Singapore reporting significant increases in cases and hospitalizations, urging health authorities to cause concerns about a new wave.
In Hong Kong, officials report that the activity of the virus is at the highest level in one year.
Albert Au, head of the contagious disease industry at the Health Protection Center, said that the rate of positivity for respiratory samples has increased. 31 Covid-related deaths were recorded on the week ending on May 3, along with increasing hospital visits and viral sewage loads-successful indicators of extensive community broadcasting.
Hong Kong’s growth has also affected public events, with singer Eason Chan canceling scheduled performances in Taiwan after a positive virus test.
In Singapore, the Ministry of Health increased by 28% in Covid-19 cases in the first week of May, with hospitalization rising by about 30%. This caused the first major update of the country Covid-19 in almost a year.
Employees attributed the increase in immunity decline and urged vulnerable groups to remain up -to -date with commemorative doses. Authorities added that there is no evidence that current variants were more transmitted or serious.
In mainland China, the positive rates of testing in hospitals were more than doubled over a five -week period expiring on May 4. Thailand also reported complex fireplaces after the Songkran Festival in April, further underlining regional concerns.
Despite increasing trends elsewhere, India remains unaffected for now. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the country is currently reporting only 93 active COVID-19 cases, with no signs of new wave.
Public Health officials throughout the area are urging populations, especially high -risk groups, to maintain vaccines as a preventive measure.
